Is Liquid Hoodia Extreme An Authentic Liquid Hoodia?

I was at Walgreens the other day looking for hoodia supplements. I noticed a product called Liquid Hoodia Extreme that looked interesting but I don’t know anything about it. Is it authentic and would you recommend it? -TJ

Liquid Hoodia Extreme is made by NX Labs (formerly NX Care). This liquid hoodia product is probably safe to take but I question its authenticity. Furthermore, even though you can buy Liquid Hoodia Extreme for about $25, there are far more effective and affordable hoodia supplements to choose from as I’ll show you in a minute.

I’m not entirely convinced that Liquid Hoodia Extreme contains 100% authentic hoodia gordonii. I know they claim it does and it supposedly comes with a copy of their CITES certificate, but that doesn’t “prove” that what they are selling is real. A CITES certificate is only half of the picture.

In addition to a CITES certificate, I always look for independent lab test results posted on the websites of companies selling real hoodia. The ONLY way to know for sure if a liquid hoodia supplement (or any hoodia supplement for that matter) is authentic is to have it tested by an independent lab. That’s why it is so important to look for them. Based on my research, I haven’t been able to find any independent lab testing for Liquid Hoodia Extreme. That’s not to say there hasn’t been testing done on it – or that it isn’t real – I just couldn’t find any “proof” anywhere online. To me, this raises a red flag.

As an example, take a look at the websites of those companies listed on my best rated hoodia page. Each of their sites have all their CITES certificates in plain view as well as their independent lab test results. Now, compare those sites to the Liquid Hoodia Extreme website. You will not find any CITES certificates or independent lab test results. After doing this comparison, you tell me if you think Liquid Hoodia Extreme is authentic. I think you’d agree with my assessment that it’s nearly impossible to tell for sure if this liquid hoodia product is authentic.

Editor’s 2008 Update: This Q&A was written in 2007. This product is still popular and available in several retail locations but the website (for whatever reason) no longer exists. There doesn’t appear to be any “official” website for this product anymore.

Let’s assume for a minute that Liquid Hoodia Extreme is authentic, I still have issues with it. I’m not a big fan of liquid hoodia. From everything I’ve read about it, it’s the least effective type of hoodia. Having said that, some people say it is effective and works just as good as any other so who really knows – and that is the problem. There hasn’t been any studies done on the effectiveness of liquid hoodia. We just don’t know how effective it is.

Even if Liquid Hoodia Extreme is authentic – and even if liquid hoodia is an effective type of hoodia – the amount of hoodia gordonii in this supplement is so minimal that I’d be surprised if it did anything to suppress your appetite. If you look at the ingredients label, you’ll see you only get 250mg of hoodia per capsule. A bottle contains 64 pills. As I mentioned, a bottle of Liquid Hoodia Extreme costs around $30.

Most people will need 2,250-3,000mg of hoodia gordonii per day for it to be effective. At 2,250mg, you’d need to take 9 capsules of Liquid Hoodia Extreme per day! At these doses, a bottle of Liquid Hoodia Extreme would only last a little over 3 days! Even if you were able to see results with a lower dose, say 1,500mg per day (which is very unlikely), you’d still need to take 6 capsules per day of this product. Even at this lower dose, a bottle would only last a little over 5 days! The bottom line is, Liquid Hoodia Extreme would end up costing anywhere from $165-$260 per month to effectively suppress your appetite – and that’s assuming it even works!

The products I recommend on my best rated hoodia page contain at least 400mg of 100% authentic hoodia gordonii per capsule – with two brands containing 750mg per capsule! You don’t need to be a math wizard to realize you’d save a ton of money buying a product that contains more hoodia gordonii per capsule. In addition, the products listed on that page contain pure hoodia gordonii powder, the most effective type of hoodia available right now.

Liquid Hoodia Extreme is probably safe to take but hopefully after reading my answer you’ll understand why I wouldn’t continue to take it as you’re probably just throwing money out the door. If you do get positive results from it, please let me know! I have an open mind and I’m willing to change my opinion of this product if enough people tell me it works!
