Are The Hoodia Diet Pills Today Less Effective?

Travis - thanks for the great information you provide. I was turned onto hoodia mostly because of an answer you gave me through Yahoo! Answers. I read somewhere that worldwide demand for hoodia is so strong that even legitimate suppliers and sellers of hoodia may have to start selling less effetive products? Anything like this true? How is the hoodia market today? Is enough being grown to meet demand? Thanks. -Brenda

Brenda:

Thank you for your kinds words. I appreciate it. I strive to provide honest and accurate information on hoodia so it’s good to hear I’m doing my job! The timing of your question couldn’t be better. I just posted an article about the hoodia market a couple weeks ago.

In the article I provide a summer update on the current state of the hoodia market. It seems the price of hoodia has always gone up but in the article I reveal that the price of raw hoodia is actually coming down and I explain why. The price of raw hoodia today is around $200/kilo. The big question is, will the price consumers pay come down as well? That has yet to be seen.

The main message in the article, however, addresses your question about the effectiveness of hoodia diet pills. You may be right that even legitimate suppliers and sellers are selling less effective hoodia supplements and products - but not necessarily due to demand. The main reason is due to the supply of hoodia itself.

As I outline in great detail in the article, less effective hoodia diet pills may be the norm today because of the type of hoodia being used. There are two types of authentic hoodia gordonii - wild grown and cultivated (farmed) hoodia. There seems to be some debate over how much wild grown hoodia exists today but from everything I’ve been able to learn, it sounds that sooner or later all hoodia diet pills will contain cultivated hoodia - if most don’t already.

The million dollar question is, how effective is cultivated hoodia? If you talk to the folks from Millennium Health, the makers of Hoodia Hoodia, they’ll tell you that cultivated hoodia isn’t as effective. I asked them about their own hoodia product and they said that they have enough wild grown hoodia in stock to last them for a while so as long as their product is available it will always contain wild grown hoodia.

However, I’ve talked to other hoodia insiders and they tell me that cultivated hoodia is just as effective. There doesn’t seem to be a general consensus on this debate. About the only thing consumers can do at this point is monitor their response to hoodia supplements. If they are following the recommended hoodia doses and it doesn’t work, they may need to simply increase the dose. In other words, it might take more today than it did in the past. Unfortunately, there isn’t any testing being done today to confirm the effectiveness of today’s cultivated hoodia gordonii.

Hope this answers your question!
