Can I Mix The Hoodia Powder Found In Capsules With Water?
Hi, I was wondering if its okay to open up the hoodia capsules and add the hoodia powder to water so it’s easier to swallow? Does this dilute the hoodia or affect anything? Also, I would be adding the powder to my bottled water in the morning before I leave for work so it will be “sitting in water” for a few hours. Will that be a big deal? -Karen

I completely understand your desire to want to mix the hoodia powder in water instead of swallowing the capsules whole. You’re not alone. A lot of people don’t like to swallow capsules. Luckily, there are two alternatives to swallowing hoodia diet pills.
You can open the capsules and add the hoodia powder to food or liquids, or you can buy liquid hoodia such as those brands listed on my best rated hoodia page. The main drawback to liquid hoodia is that it is more expensive than hoodia capsules in the long-run because the dosage is smaller per serving and you don’t get as many servings. Mixing the hoodia powder found in capsules in food or liquid is a cheap alternative to liquid hoodia.
Water will not dilute hoodia gordonii powder. In fact, if you read the product labels on most hoodia diet pills, you’ll see they actually recommend you drink 8 ounces of water with each serving. The reason for this is because hoodia will also suppress your thirst. By drinking at least 8 ounces of water with every serving, you’ll be sure to get enough water even though you may not be thirsty.
Please keep in mind, however, that you should really aim to get at least 64 ounces of water in per day for optimal health - regardless of whether or not you are taking hoodia. Water itself can be an effective appetite suppressant so the more you drink of it, the more help it will help with your weight loss efforts.
The only concern I had about your question is the fact that the powder will be sitting in water for so long. I wasn’t sure about that so I consulted with Dr. Varallo. He has almost three year’s of clinical experience working with hoodia so I figured he would know. Sure enough, he did.
Dr. Varallo told me that he doesn’t recommend letting the hoodia powder sit in water (or any liquid) for that period of time. He didn’t say why but I suspect he believes the water would somehow adversely affect hoodia somehow. Furthermore, he recommends that hoodia powder be mixed with food, such as apple sauce or peanut butter, instead of water. This will ensure the powder is fully utilized.
I don’t know if you read my article where I outlined how you can make your own hoodia shake, but in it I recommend you pull the hoodia capsules apart and mix the hoodia powder with protein powder. Dr. Varallo said this would also be an effective strategy and a good alternative to adding the powder to food.
So whether you mix the hoodia powder with food or protein powder, don’t just mix it with water - and certainly don’t let it sit in any liquid for an extended period of time.
