Can You Have A Glass Of Wine Or Two Taking Hoodia Diet Pills?

I like to drink wine once in a while and I was wondering if it is o.k. to drink wine while taking hoodia supplements. -Cheryl

To answer your question I turned to Dr. Varallo for help with an answer. He said two glasses of wine per day can actually be good for some people based on recent studies. As long as you don’t have elevated liver enzymes you can drink alcohol and take hoodia diet pills. However, don’t drink any alcohol and take hoodia diet pills together at the same sitting. You want to take them at different times of the day. For example, if you take your last dose of hoodia before dinner it would be fine to have your wine later in the evening.

You don’t want to take the two together at the same time because alcohol dulls the senses and will prevent hoodia from working. Hoodia works by tricking the brain into thinking it is full. If you drink alcohol when you take your hoodia supplements, the alcohol will dull hoodia’s effect on tricking the brain.

And in case you’re wondering about the studies Dr. Varallo is referring to regarding alcohol’s health benefits, numerous studies suggest that moderate alcohol consumption helps protect against heart disease by raising HDL (good) cholesterol and reducing plaque accumulations in your arteries. Alcohol also has a mild anti-coagulating effect, keeping platelets from clumping together to form clots. Both actions can reduce risk of heart attack but exactly how alcohol influences either one still remains unclear. Dr. Varallo didn’t mention this, but based on my research, red wine provides the most health benefits.

Moderate alcohol consumption is defined as one alcoholic beverage per day for a woman and two per day for a man. A woman’s body metabolizes alcohol differently so that one alcoholic beverage in a woman is equal to two in a man. Alcohol remains in a woman’s body longer than in a man’s. Also, the older you are, the less efficient the body can metabolize alcohol.
