What Do You Know About Desert Sun Hoodia – Is It Real Hoodia?

A friend recommended to me a brand called Desert Sun Hoodia 750 pills but I want to know more about them before I buy them. Do you know anything about Desert Sun Hoodia? Thank you and I love your site! -Kim

Thanks for the compliment! I’m glad you like the site. I’ve been researching hoodia diet pills for almost two years now and I’ve never heard of Desert Sun Hoodia – which isn’t a good sign.

I did some digging for you to get more information on Desert Sun Hoodia and all I could find was someone on eBay selling it for about $17/bottle. According to the auction item, this brand has 750mg capsules of “pure” hoodia gordonii.

I’m going to be totally honest with you here – I doubt Desert Sun Hoodia is authentic hoodia gordonii. For starters, I can’t find a single website where this product is sold other than eBay. And because of this, there is virtually no information available on it.

Editor’s 2008 Update: This was written in 2007. Since then, I have been notified that Desert Sun Hoodia does have its own website. You can view it by clicking here. You’ll notice they do have a CITES certificate listed but there is no independent lab test results. A CITES certificate alone doesn’t prove that a product is authentic. The only way to know with 100% certainty is by independent lab testing.

I’m not saying Desert Sun Hoodia isn’t real – because I honestly don’t know – but based on what I see and based on the ridiculously low price of this product – I am leery of what they are offering. I personally wouldn’t buy it and if I did I wouldn’t expect much.

I can’t find any CITES certificates for Desert Sun nor can I find any independent lab test results that proves Desert Sun Hoodia is authentic. These two documents are the two most important things to look for when you buy hoodia. If you can’t find these two documents, I’d hang on to your money because there’s a very good chance the product doesn’t contain 100% authentic hoodia gordonii.

If your friend knows of a website that sells Desert Sun Hoodia (other than eBay), look for those two documents. Of the two, however, the independent lab test results are the most important. The only way to know conclusively that a product is 100% authentic is by lab testing. Use the guidelines in that article to “grade” Desert Sun Hoodia. You’ll be able to determine yourself if the product is real or not.

Another thing that raises a red flag for me is the Desert Sun name. I find it interesting that the name of this product is so similar to the name of another brand that actually does contain 750mg of authentic hoodia (that brand being Desert Burn Hoodia). Seems to me that Desert Sun is trying to trick people into thinking they are the same as Desert Burn when they are absolutely nothing alike! At the very least, they are riding the coat tails of Desert Burn’s brand name and recognition.

If you are able to find more information on Desert Sun Hoodia, I’d love to hear from you. If you aren’t able to find anything, then my recommendation would be that you stick with Desert Burn Hoodia or any of the brands on my best rated hoodia page. All of these brands contain 100% authentic hoodia gordonii and they all have independent lab tests to prove it!
