Does Hoodia really work as a diet aid?
How would you like an all-natural weight loss supplement? Hoodia Gordonii has garnered worldwide attention from the 60 Minutes television program and by Oprah Winfrey. But does Hoodia really work to help you lose weight? There are some things that you need to understand about Hoodia before you think about purchasing it.
The Hoodia plant grows to six feet high in the Kalahari Desert of Africa. The indigenous tribes of South Africa has consumed the Hoodia Gordonii specie for centuries to reduce their appetites on long hunting trips across the desert. Hoodia also help to quench their thirst.
More recently Pfizer has performed clinical trials indicating that Hoodia has amazing potential as a weight loss aid. Un the United Kingdom one study where one group of participants in the study was given a placebo and another group was given Hoodia Gordonii extract. Both groups returned to their homes and ate as they normally would. In two weeks when the participants were evaluated the group that were given the Hoodia extract ate on average one thousand less calories per day without any effort. This study demonstrated that Hoodia Gordonii is effective in helping dieters lose weight by reducing their appetites.
There are many varieties of the Hoodia plant. Only the gordonii species has the active ingredient that affects the appetite. This molecule, called P57, is natural and when digested causes the brain to believe that you are full when you have not eaten. This eliminates your desire to eat. This benefit makes Hoodia a real boost to any weight loss program.
Hoodia can be found in many forms: pill, powder, liquids and teas. It is believed by some that the liquid form works best. In order for a pill to work it has to go through your digestive system. This takes longer for the P57 molecule to reach your bloodstream than if you had taken a liquid dose. The absorption of a liquid is from ninety-five to ninety-eight percent while pills are only between two and twenty percent. Also, pills are more difficult to swallow. With a liquid form you can mix it with a glass of juice or water to take.
While Hoodia has demonstrated great promise as an appetite suppressant it is not a magic pill. In fact, there is no magic pill that will melt off your weight. In order to lose weight you need to have a sensible weight loss program combined with exercise, strength training and making sensible changes in your lifestyle. It will also help if you reduce your consumption of foods containing sugar, potatoes, candy, and baked goods. But, when you include Hoodia in your diet plan you do not have to completely avoid any food. You do not have to count calories or measure portions. Just eat smaller portions and you will be surprised that your appetite is really reduced.
It is important to be sure that you remain hydrated when you take Hoodia. As Hoodia makes you think you are not thirsty you don’t want to suffer ill effects of not taking in enough water. hydrated when you take Hoodia.
