Hoodia Gum: Should You Worry About What Brand You Buy?

I posted the other day about a company launching a new hoodia gum. In that post I also pointed out how ridiculous it is to believe that there’s enough hoodia gordonii in a stick of chewing gum to have any effect on your appetite.

Well, another press release came out late last week announcing another company introducing a hoodia gum product to the market. According to the release, this was the first company to introduce hoodia gum to the market in early 2006. The CEO of the company is “worried - very worried” that people will buy the wrong gum. The obvious suggestion is that only his company makes the “good” hoodia gum.

So how is their chewing gum so different from their competitors - and why are they worried people will buy the wrong hoodia gum? I don’t know a thing about making gum, but apparently it takes heat to make it. The heat, the company claims, destroys the hoodia gordonii.

However, they found a pharmaceutical company that has a patented process that allows the hoodia gordonii to be added to the gum after the heating process is completed. The end result is you supposedly have a hoodia gum product that doesn’t have any of the hoodia gordonii destroyed.

The press release says the CEO is worried that competitors may not be making the hoodia gum correctly, thus producing an inferior product and giving the entire hoodia gum industry a bad wrap. I’ve got news for the CEO, you don’t have to worry because I’m sure anyone who tries your product or any hoodia gum product will realize they simply don’t work - regardless of how it is manufactured.

The only way I can see these gum products working is because of a placebo effect. The mind is a very powerful thing. Hoodia gum may work in the short-term if a dieter convinces themselves that it’s working. In the long run, however, I’m confident that most will find these products are worthless.

As I mentioned before, if you want to give hoodia gordonii a try, stick with proven products such as Hoodoba and Desert Burn hoodia diet pills.
